Ljubljana is the second Best in Europe 2014

Monday, 14 July 2014

The authoritative travel guide book Lonely Planet has placed Ljubljana as the second most interesting place to visit in Europe in the year 2014.

For the second time in the row Lonely Planet, one of the most trusted travel guides, has published the Best in Europe list, where the most interesting places visit in Europe this year are described. The first place on the list was taken by Greece, the third – by Southwest England, the forth – by Slovenian neighbours – Italy.

This year Slovenian capital, Ljubljana took the second place. Lonely Planet described it as: “one of Europe’s greenest and most livable cities, boasting a friendly cafe culture by day, and vibrant nightlife after the sun sets.“ Ljubljana gained additional points thanks to the upcoming events dedicated to the 2000th anniversary of the Roman colony Emona, which will take place throughout the whole August.
It is worth saying that during the last couple of years Ljubljana has put a lot of effort into becoming recognizable on the trustees market. In latest years Ljubljana was already named one of the 20 safest capitals in Europe, the city became the Worlds Book Capital, and this year it has received the title of Green European Capital. All this effort naturally has influenced the number of tourists, visiting Ljubljana, which only from the year 2002 to the year 2012 has grown for 109%
