The results of stress tests of Slovenian banking sector slightly differ from forecasts

Tuesday, 17 December 2013

These days the attention of the world’s press is focused on the results of the stress tests of Slovenian banking sector.
The experts agree that Slovenia is capable of dealing with today’s deficit in the sector on its own.
Brussels shares the same point of view.
British newspaper Financail Times reports that the financial status of eight Slovenia banks and the deficit amounts at 4, 8 billion euro, which is a bit higher than official forecast.
Slovenia keeps on insisting that there is no need for international financial aide for the country. The chief of euro group Mr. Dijsselbloem points out that even though the deficit of 3 billion euro is the lowest point of the country’s solvency, Slovenia is able to deal with the problem itself.
The internet portal Bloomberg states that the results of stress tests have reduced risks of using international financial aid.
Such newspapers as German Spiegel, French publishing agency AFP, Italian ANSA and many others agree that the danger of becoming the sixth country in line for financial aid for Slovenia has passed by.
Austrian publishing agency APA paid a lot of attention to the problem of additional capitalization of filial banks Hypo Alpe Adria and Unicredit. The spokesman on the banks assured that measures have been taken to reduce cost for up to 100 MIO € thanks to conversion of the banks.
