Croatia in the elite group of 25 most attractive investment destinations by the end of the decade?

On February 27, 2024, the Association of Foreign Investors in Croatia (FICC) unveiled the seventh edition of the White Book 2024, showcasing the positive aspects of investing in Croatia amid its unique juncture post-European Union integration.

FICC President Burak Baykan highlighted the transformative opportunities presented by Croatia's upcoming accession to the OECD and emphasized the need for policies to enhance the business environment, attract substantial investments, and boost national competitiveness and productivity.

The report, which identifies key development constraints, also presents a constructive perspective. It underscores the potential for Croatia to become one of the most attractive investment destinations globally. Economic analyst Velimir Šonje, the White Book 2024 editor, outlined ambitious national development goals, envisioning Croatia reaching 90% of the EU average income per inhabitant. This aspiration involves positioning Croatia among the top 25 most attractive investment destinations globally and earning an A+ credit rating by the end of the decade.

Foreign-owned companies play a pivotal role in Croatia's economic landscape, contributing significantly to employment, investments, added value, and export growth. The FICC sees these entities as essential partners in realizing long-term growth and productivity, particularly as Croatia gears up for OECD accession and maximizes the benefits of EU funds.

The document not only highlights challenges but also presents a roadmap for fostering a conducive business environment. Since its inception in 2013, the White Book has been a valuable platform for FICC members to share insights, encouraging positive changes in Croatia's business landscape. In it's conclusion, the report paints a forward-looking picture, positioning Croatia as an increasingly attractive destination for foreign investment with the potential for significant economic growth and development.
