Strategic collaboration for Innovation
Prime Minister Robert Golob, along with representatives from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia (GZS), Coordination of Independent Research Institutes of Slovenia (KosRIS), and Slovenian Rectors’ Conference (RKRS), signed a historic agreement titled "For a smart, sustainable and competitive Slovenia." This strategic cooperation aims to advance technological development and innovation, aligning with Slovenia's high development goals, including improved quality of life, environmental sustainability, and high value-added outcomes.
The signatories, including Prime Minister Golob, stressed the importance of boosting value added in the economy. Golob highlighted the need for collaboration between politics, research institutions, and the business community to achieve greater prosperity. He emphasized the role of knowledge and innovation in building resilience to crises and funding public resources for citizen prosperity.
Aligning with National objectives
The alliance seeks to enhance Slovenia's resilience to crises, aligning with the objectives of Slovenia’s Vision 2050, the European Green Deal, and the Slovenian Industrial Strategy. Key goals include increasing public and private funding for science, research, development, and innovation activities to at least 2.8% of GDP by 2027. This involves reaching a minimum of 1.0% of GDP in public funding and 1.8% in private funding. The agreement also aims to strengthen top-level personnel training, improve the research and business environment, and reduce bureaucracy and tax burdens on research and development.
Propelling Slovenia as an Innovation Leader
The creation of a new Agency for Science, Research, and Innovation is planned, with additional resources for its operation. Additionally, a special fund and mechanisms for financing all stages of innovative company development will be established, funded by European funds, international development banks, and private institutional investors. The agreement reflects a comprehensive effort to propel Slovenia towards becoming a leading innovator in Europe.
