Recent reports highlight a promising uptick in Croatian hospitality and accommodation compared to last year. According to Jadranka Dozan of Poslovni Dnevnik, increased tourist traffic over the extended weekend has improved the outlook for the sector.
Despite some concerns about peak season performance and strategic development, the Croatian government remains optimistic. Tourism Minister Tonči Glavina emphasized the importance of considering both the pre-season and post-season, advocating for a shift towards sustainable tourism.
Current data from the Tax Administration reveals a notable increase in turnover. In July alone, fiscalised turnover reached over 5.24 billion euros, a 10% rise from last year. Year-to-date turnover totals 24.6 billion euros, marking a 12% increase compared to the same period in 2023. This growth is partially attributed to higher prices, with 3.5% more bills issued this year.
Specifically, in July, Croatian hospitality providers saw an 8.3% increase in turnover, totaling 1.34 billion euros. Regional performance varied, with Adriatic counties showing strong growth. For instance, Šibenik-Knin County experienced a 13.5% increase in fiscalised turnover, while Zadar County and Split-Dalmatia County reported growth rates of 9% and 8.5%, respectively. Istria County also saw a 5.5% increase. However, Lika-Senj County had the smallest growth at 2.6%.
