Slovenian banks prove resilient in latest stress tests

Stress tests conducted by Slovenia's central bank and the European Central Bank (ECB) confirm that the Slovenian banking system is stable and resilient. The tests, which analyzed data from late 2023 and looked ahead to 2026, showed that Slovenian banks maintain strong capital levels and would effectively manage potential cyber threats. Despite the overall positive results, the central bank noted that geopolitical risks remain a concern.

The ECB's stress tests, which included Slovenia’s NLB, NKBM, and Gorenjska Banka among 109 eurozone banks, simulated a severe cyberattack scenario. The results indicated that such an attack would have minimal impact on the banks' core operations and liquidity. However, the Bank of Slovenia emphasized the need for ongoing investment in IT systems to address evolving risks.
