Manufacture of batteries and rechargeable batteries: Chinese investor in Maribor seeking 52 workers

Tuesday, 7 October 2014

Orders are already there, production could begin in November.

Maribor - an international company engaged in the manufacture of rechargeable batteries Shihlien Apes opens 52 new jobs in Maribor. Work, according to the media, could begin as early as November.

Earlier this year, during one of its visits to China, a delegation of the municipality of Maribor, signed with Shihlien Apex Technology agreement of intent to begin production of rechargeable batteries in Maribor. Advisor to the Mayor of the city, Marko Kovacic, noted that the company produces environmentally friendly car batteries and batteries to store electrical energy in houses.

Maribor was chosen as a place for the establishing battery production due to the fact that it is to become window for entering European markets. As is stated in the Letter of Intent, the production itself will remain in China, and in Maribor rechargeable batteries will be sorted depending on type of order.

Shihlien Apes is seeking specialists of various fields: workers for manufacture, electrical engineers, programmers and sales managers.

The location is still a mistery

The location of the plant has not yet been disclosed, Mayor Andrew Fistravets wrote on his Facebook profile only that manufacturing facility will be located in the vicinity of Tabor.

In April, when Maribor was visited by Chinese businessman Po Shi Lin, chairman of the council of the Chinese company Shihlien energy technologies, he considered several locations to open the shop, including some of the largest and most famous in the region.

In recent years, more and more foreign investors from countries such as Russia, India, China and the Arab world, decide to invest their capital in Slovenia. This steady growth of foreign investments in the country is explained primarily by its unique location: Slovenia is situated on the border of the European Union, which provides an opportunity for investors to conduct their business on the basis of both the EU and the country out of the Union. Moreover Slovenia has well developed transport system, where road logistics to the other countries is carried out on high-speed roads of “Slovenian cross”, and the port of Koper provides sea freight transporting across Europe.
Last but not least it must be mentioned that at the moment Slovenia attracts foreign investors by its low prices, both for the purchase of enterprises and costs of labor.
